Her dad, William John Garner, worked as a chemical engineer at Union Carbide. The mother of her Patricia Ann taught at a local college. She graduated with a degree in chemical engineering, aiming to imitate her father. However, because she wanted to fulfill her ambition of becoming actress, she relocating in New York to try her luck in the movies.
