April Lockhart
April Lockhart born 4 July 1995. She started the guitar and piano lessons in seventh grade. This sparked the interest of her. April's first song was Different which she composed when she was 12 years old. When she was 14, April spent much time writing songs and honed her music skills. Then, in the following months, April began to travel with her dad and write at home in NY and LA. April started to include other subjects in the book, Take My Hand, for the people in her life who are struggling in the face of peer pressure, disability or even suicidal thoughts. Lockhart has her own following and also works as a lifestyle blogger at the well-known Ilia the Clean Beauty brand. The disability she has is part of her persona, however it is not the whole of the picture. Lockhart does not deny that she has a disability on Instagram, but she isn't making it the focal point of the post. What's the message? That we all contain multitudes of identities and that we are more than our physical selves. Lockhart tells Lockhart via video "I do not believe that disability should define me. I don't intend to influence disability, because I've many more things to contribute." This doesn't have any effect on my daily life. I conduct every day as normal and have found the best way for me to adapt things. It's a big aspect of my existence, so it is important to talk about it. Self-acceptance can be a marathon for a lifetime but Lockhart truly inspires me in this regard. Still she admits she's gone through phases of her body and sometimes not being confident in wearing specific types of clothes that showed the arms of her. Nowadays, she dresses what she's comfortable in and post images of her outfits to social media with pride. It's a journey is the most important thing. I'm not sure if it will be an end about self-love. It's a fact that I see for everyone, whatever they are struggling with. I think it's important to surround yourself with people who can identify and feel your heart.
